Part 1: Connecting to the projectors with the Epson iProjection app
*Note: If you are an SCS employee and do not have Epson iProjection installed on your device, please call the Helpdesk at least 48 hrs prior for an install. If you are not an SCS employee or do not have time for us to complete that installation, you may use the County provided laptop located on the table beside the stage. Further info for non-SCS employees begins on the second page.*
Connect to the Network
- On your computer, ensure that you are connected to the network via WiFi (Must be either SumnerCountySchools or Mosyle_MDM_SSID), or via the white Ethernet cable located on the table beside the stage. The cable connection is highly preferable when possible and will provide a smoother experience.
Opening the App on Windows
- Use the search bar at the bottom of your desktop to search for/click on Epson iProjection.
- The Select Connection Mode should open shortly. Ensure that Advanced Connection Mode is selected, then click OK.
- If a popup appears asking to “disable the firewall,” click Yes. (This just adds an exception for this app to allow it to see the projectors).
Opening the App on MacOS
- Use the Launchpad to find the Epson iProjection app, or look for it under the Applications tab in a new Finder windows
- Follow the same directions as Windows to continue.
Ensuring the Projectors are Prepared
- Turn whichever projectors you wish to use on with the remotes. You can use a single remote for both but you’ll need to be fairly close to each.
- Click the LAN button on the remote to switch it to the network input.
Connecting to the Projectors
- Once the Connection window opens, click on the Manual search tab to the left.
- Use the search bar at the top to search for both of the projectors’ IP addresses. You can enter one at a time and click Search, and both will stay listed.
- Left Projector: 10.191.16.106. Right Projector: 10.191.16.43.
- Once both projectors are listed, click the checkmarks of either or both, then click Connect in the bottom right corner of the window. It will connect momentarily.
Audio!
- To connect to the projectors’ speakers, ensure your sound input source is switched to Epson iProjection.
- To connect to the sound system, you’ll need to use the audio cable attached to the large VGA/HDMI cable on the table. You don’t need to plug that in as well, just the audio cable to your laptop. Switch your sound input source to Headphones.
Tips
- After you connect to the projectors, you can pause iProjection by clicking the pause/play buttons on the toolbar that appears once connected. You can also pause the projectors themselves by clicking the Freeze button on the remote.
- If multiple computers will be used with iProjection, whichever is first must fully disconnect from the projectors before the other begins.
- If multiple user accounts are used with iProjection on a computer, you must completely disconnect and close the app on the first account before using it on another.
Part 2: Microphones Setup
- Both the handheld and clip-on Microphones should be located on the table beside the stage. When finished using them please place them back there for the next user.
- To turn on the handheld Mic, move both switches on the bottom to the right and wait around 5 seconds until the power light is solid green. To mute it, toggle the right-most switch back. To access batteries, unscrew the base right where the solid part first meets the top.
- To turn on the clip-on Mic, press the power button on its face. To mute it, press the button on the top end. To access batteries, move both side levers down at the same time, then pull up on the bottom part of the face.
*If you don’t know their battery lives, you can insert any two AA batteries into the clip-on, turn it on, and it will display a battery symbol to give you a rough idea. Full batteries should usually last a full day of presenting. For fresh batteries please ask Renee Spindler if any are currently available, but please check the current percentage before this to avoid wasting batteries that still have life.
*To avoid Mic feedback, try to avoid standing directly in the path of the white speakers you should notice on the ceiling. Walking to a different location is usually the best solution. The audio equipment shouldn’t be adjusted without Technology’s help.*
Part 3: Additional Help for Non-SCS Employees
Any non-SCS employee wishing to connect to the projectors has two options at the present moment:
- Connect using their own device. They can either A: Connect their device to the wired VGA/HDMI cable located beside the table for a quick connection and risk occasional signal loss, or B: Install Epson iProjection from https://epson.com/support/wireless-projector-support and follow the steps above to connect. They will need software install rights on their machine to do this, and will need to use the white Ethernet cable for connection to our network.
- Connect using the provided laptop. The laptop present on the table beside the stage has Epson iProjection installed and is ready to be used. If Technology is scheduled for setup assistance prior via a Helpdesk call, we can log the computer into a guest profile for them to use. Otherwise, an SCS employee in attendance will need to login into their profile, find/open the presentation, then log out promptly after it is finished.
Part 4: Technology Support. Please Read! :)
- For Technology to be involved with setup, we must be notified via a Helpdesk call (615-541-6513) at least 24 hours in advance, preferably 48. This helps us to work out any logistics or scheduling problems. If not notified in advance we can’t guarantee any last minute support will be available. We typically arrive 30 minutes before the event start time but if more time is required please let us know.
- When contacting Technology in advance for support, please be prepared to give the following information or meet certain requirements:
- Presenter name(s).
- Event start time.
- Technology that will be used. Ex: “A Windows laptop that will connect to the right projector, and the handheld Microphone.”
- Whose computer will be used. Ex: “So & So’s laptop” or “The provided laptop.”
- Epson iProjection installation if relevant. Ex: “I’ll be connecting to the projectors, and my laptop does not already have iProjection installed.”
- Computer audio requirements. Ex: “I have a video that will need to play sound through the gym’s speakers.”
- Ensure that any videos are working properly beforehand, and please embed them in your presentation, and if possible download them so that they’re sourced from your PC and not streamed from a website like YouTube. Buffering during the presentation is a potential issue that can occur otherwise.
- PLEASE ensure that all PowerPoint or Slides are 100% complete before Technology is scheduled to arrive to avoid last minute adjustments that could interfere with setup.
